Hi! I'm Kate. The face behind Absolute Yoga. I’m not much for photos of myself but you will be warmly welcomed at the studio!
I’m not a naturally bendy, super fit, ethereal whisp of a woman. I have been that person in a class who feels like they’re made of tin and is so anxious they can’t think straight. So if you’re feeling apprehensive about getting started then know that I have been there too and it informs how I run this studio and everything that we offer. When you arrive for your first class, I’m expecting you. If you tell me about yourself, I’m listening.
My classes are intended to give you the opportunity to explore you and how you want to move and breathe, whether we’re practicing a more dynamic style of yoga, working out mindfully with Pilates or exploring calm, soothing yin yoga.
This is your body, your practice and we’re here to support you.

Perhaps you just want to move your body; maybe you want to find some inner peace and calm; perhaps you want to focus on improving strength, balance, fitness and flexibility or posture, or you just want to do something for yourself.
You can find all of that, and more, here in our warm, welcoming, softly lit studio. All of our classes are beginner friendly & we have spare mats if you don’t have your own.

Dynamic classes focused on strengthening the back, core and major muscle groups as well as building stability.

Dynamic classes focusing on strength, flexibility and balances, usually involving sun salutations, balances and binds.

A combination of ballet warm ups, yoga stretches and Pilates strengthening.

Mindful movement, gentle strengthening and some passive supported poses

This is a warm, candlelit, soothing, nurturing hour, which includes bolsters, blocks and eye pillows to support and calm the body, mind and nervous system.

Using pregnancy yoga techniques such as breathing, soundwork and movement this nourishing class will help you in all stages leading up to birth and into post-partum

Chair Yoga is great for those who can’t or don’t want to attend regular yoga or fitness class due to age, health issues, injury, limited mobility or any other reason

Yin & Sound Relaxation Event
Join Kate and Libby for a Sunday afternoon of deep, healing release and relaxation. Completely beginner friendly, you are invited to soften into each floor based yin yoga pose for 4-8 minutes, supported by bolsters, blocks, eye pillows and sandbags. Our soft yoga practice will be accompanied by Libby’s beautiful soundbath using crystal bowls, voice and chimes. This is 3 hours of calm, peaceful, deep release and relaxation.

Women’s Yoga & Meditation Retreat
Join me and Joanne Huddart for a relaxing weekend in Cumbria full of yoga, yin yoga, meditation, yoga nidra and time in nature. This retreat is fully catered (vegetarian or vegan), with shared rooms and a dedicated yoga space. We’ll have full, sole use of the venue and grounds. All classes are optional and there will be plenty of opportunity for either spending time with others or taking time alone.

The variety of class is brilliant so there is something for people of all abilities. The teachers and members are all very welcoming. I took a fully inclusive membership seeing as I have retired and attend 5 days a week. Keeps me fit and is good for my overall wellbeing. Love it!
